Kalkidan Alemayehu

Kalkidan Alemayehu is an undergraduate student at UCLA majoring in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations. So far, she has pursued public service at various levels in her undergraduate career, from local grassroots organizing to interning for federal offices. As a strong advocate for single-payer healthcare, she has worked on multiple local campaigns to help new progressive candidates unseat incumbents in an effort to pass Medicare For All in California. She was also a Policy Fellow with Young Invincibles and has interned for Congressman Ted Lieu (CA-33rd) during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, working to help constituents who faced health, immigration, and housing crises. Moving forward, Kalkidan hopes to pursue a career in international development and poverty reduction in Africa.
