Martin Makaryan
Martin Makaryan is an undergraduate majoring in Political Science and minoring in Global Studies at UCLA, class of 2022. Born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia, he moved to the United States in 2017, where he pursued his passion for world affairs by specializing in international relations and global studies in college. He has a vested interest in foreign policy, international security, and conflict resolution with a special focus on Europe, Russia, and the ex-Soviet countries. Interested in political science research, he is writing an honors thesis regarding the post-Cold War enlargement of NATO and America’s decision to expand the alliance. He speaks five languages and he intends to pursue careers in international relations by joining the U.S. foreign service after obtaining a graduate degree.
