As a first-gen Latina whose family immigrated from Mexico, she grew up with Spanish being her first language and, as a result, has developed to love her cultural background. She is interested in understanding how anti-immigrant sentiments impact societal viewpoints towards Latin Americans, especially immigrants. During her time as an undergrad and beyond, she hopes to help alter those inaccurate perceptions by providing insights into the current events occurring in Latin America that people endure and challenge. She is interested in learning about the political, social, or economic issues happening in Latin America because there are various ways social justice is sought throughout the region.
