Matthew Rutzen
Matthew Rutzen is a student at the University of California, Los Angeles. He studies Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations, with his primary interest being in the Middle East and North Africa region. Over the course of his time at UCLA, Matthew has had the privilege of being a student researcher at UCLA’s Center for Middle Eastern Development (CMED). This experience has enriched his ability to critically think, analyze, and summarize complex situations into digestible reports. As he continues to familiarize himself with the diverse politics of the MENA region, his experience at CMED has allowed for Matthew to begin to hypothesize his own solutions and predict future outcomes to contemporary issues. He hopes that his knowledge can one day lend to the support of constructing peaceful resolutions in hostile circumstances.
